NetApp Insight 2017 – Migrating Mission Applications to the Hybrid Cloud Leveraging a Cost Neutral Journey (CNJ)

1901 Group has been invited to present a public-sector use case involving a U.S. Federal Government Agency’s initiative to migrate enterprise, mission applications into a hybrid cloud. The specific hybrid cloud solution is defined as a consumption-based, fee model for IT capacities consisting of: a) private cloud storage using NetApp NPS, b) high-speed connectivity using Equinix DirectConnect, c) public cloud compute using AWSGovCloud, and d) FedRAMP authorized Managed Services from 1901 Group LLC. The U.S. Agency utilized an incremental, Cost Neutral Journey (CNJ), approach so as to simultaneously reduce Operations and Maintenance (O&M) costs of legacy services in order to free up funding and resources to design, prioritize, and implement Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), Storage as a Service (STaaS), and the migration of mission applications to the hybrid cloud.. 1901 Group has been awarded the US General Services Administration (GSA) IT Schedule 70 Special Item Number (SIN) 132-40 for Cloud Services to Federal Government Agencies. The GSA Cloud SIN makes it easier and faster for government buyers to find and purchase commercial cloud services through the Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) program. It provides centralized, streamlined access to cloud computing services through IT Schedule 70 to meet eligible government, state and local needs. The Schedule 70 Cloud SIN (132-40) includes three sub-categories: Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

FedRAMP Authorization streamlines FISMA-High Hybrid Cloud ATO

1901 Group worked with a U.S. Federal Government Agency to streamline and expedite issuance of a FISMA-High Authority To Operate (ATO) for hybrid cloud services. 1901 Group’s FedRAMP I3SS System Security Plan (SSP) accreditation, used in conjunction with the AWS’ GovCloud FedRAMP instance drastically reduced time to address 350 security controls to receive the Authority to Operate (ATO). The 350 security controls addressed were categorized as: 75 being Applicable controls, 185 being Hybrid controls, and 90 being Inherited controls, which further quantifies benefits agencies can receive by utilizing FedRAMP Authorized products and services.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. § 794 (d)) in 1998 requires Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. Inaccessible technology interferes with an individual’s ability to obtain and use information quickly and easily. 1901 Group recognizes and acknowledges the requirement for compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Accessibility standards within 36 CFR part 1194.
